At America’s Auto Body, Automotive collision repair is broken down into four steps to ensure quality service.
The vehicle is disassembled; parts are removed for an accurate re-inspection of all hidden or additional work. Outer sheet metal panels, engine, interior panels, trim, bumper covers and fascias are removed as necessary to access all damage, especially to the inner uni-structure. Supplemental damage is written by a service writer and technician.
We then notify you and your insurance company of the supplemental damage or additional work. If necessary, the insurance company will send out an appraiser/adjuster who may need to personally inspect the additional damage and approve the necessary work.
Following approval of the additional damage, your vehicle is then placed back into production.
The final sheet metal parts are removed and metal is worked as necessary, reforming and reshaping, and installing necessary parts. If necessary, the engine, radiator, drive train, suspension and interior parts are removed to gain access to damaged areas. The unibody of the car is measured and then structural repairs are planned and calculated. Your vehicles is then moved to our unibody repair equipment where it is straightened to correct any dimensional inaccuracies caused by the collision.
The new panels are primed, prepped and painted to await installation. Each affected area of the vehicle is treated for corrosion protection.
After the vehicle is measured, the new panels are replaced and then the vehicle is checked again for dimension accuracy.
The vehicle is then moved into the priming area and primed using an acid etching rust-inhibiting primer.
Your vehicle is then water block sanded using progressively finer sanding grits. This process ensures a smooth flawless surface, free of irregularities.
America's will then thoroughly inspect the vehicles surface and then pressure wash the vehicle to remove grease, tar, smudges, silicon, and any other contamination that may inhibit a quality paint application and finish. If necessary, door jambs and inner edges are painted before the exterior application of paint.
Lastly, the areas are taped, bagged and masked off. We then clean the vehicle again, blowing any dust off with compressed air. After this we place the car inside a downdraft paint booth where the vehicle will be cleaned again to ensure a quality finish.
After we are confident that the vehicle is free of any impurities, we then begin to apply the finish. We use up to seven coats of paint (including the clear coating) depending on color, make and model. After the new finish has dried, we remove all the tape and move the vehicle for final inspection.
All interior panels, trim moldings, mirrors, and accessories are remounted. The sublet work such as pin-striping or upholstery work is completed. We will begin to reinstall the windshield, windshield trim moldings, door panels and final interior trim. We will then align the vehicle and recharge the air conditioning. All electrical wiring is reconnected, computer modules and sensors are reattached and all lights and applicable systems are checked and properly rest to manufacturers specifications.
A final quality control inspection is performed on the vehicle. The vehicle is then washed and detailed completely. We take a final pre-delivery test drive and inspection to ensure total quality. Your vehicle goes through a comprehensive inspection process before leaving our production facility.
